Your Property Valuation Administrator’s office DOES NOT determine how much tax you pay. The PVA office only assess the “fair market value” of the property to be taxed. There are two components that determine your property tax bill, ASSESSED VALUE and TAX RATE. The TAX RATE is determined by the elected County Government Fiscal Court, City Government Council, School Boards, and taxing districts such as Ambulance, Library, Soil Conservation and Health Department boards, which have a group of local citizens serving on each board.
